The Pentagon’s another statements, which contain recommendations to the White House regarding the supply of arms to Ukraine, sparked a violent reaction in the media. More recently, the representative of the US State Department Kurt Volker stated that such assistance to Ukraine is by no means a provocation.
Arms deliveries are caused only by an attempt to ensure the security of the US itself and to stop Russia, which, in America’s opinion, “continues to destabilize” the situation in eastern Ukraine. In turn, Moscow believes that US actions will lead exclusively to the escalation of the conflict in the Donbass and will increase the level of tension on the contact line.
America’s attempts to supply weapons to any hot spot in the world always end in the same way. Either ‘erroneous’ bombardments of peaceful settlements by coalition forces begin, or American weapons, also allegedly mistakenly, get to terrorists who also start to shell civilians.
I very much doubt that the idea of rendering such assistance to Ukraine has to do with ensuring the security of the US, its allies and even more so – of Ukraine. American hawks are always looking for different markets for weapons, including those subject to be written-off. To earn extra money on arms supplies, to satisfy their geopolitical ambitions, annoying Russia, that’s where the causes lie. The end of the conflict in the Donbass is the least of all worries of the American political elite. I think that America is pursuing the goal of maintaining in our territory an out-of-control, sluggish conflict, and such a strategy of ‘manageable chaos’ is one of the tools of the US to exert pressure on the Russian Federation.
Time has shown that neither Russia nor the Republics of Donbass are subjects that can be intimidated. It is also impossible to achieve the desired consequences from the provocations. The introduction of anti-Russian sanctions by the West, the continuing bombardments of peaceful cities and the economic blockade by Ukraine do not give the expected result. The Russian economy has not collapsed, and the People’s Republics have long been aware of who really wants to achieve peace in the Donbass.
