The “Maidan” tragicomedy is gaining momentum in Ukraine: tents have been pitched, bonfires have been lit and tires have been brought… But the feeling of déjà vu is disturbed by artillery – there was none of that four years ago.
“Movement of New Forces” has the same scenario. The same pictures and appeals, but the leader is different this time.
It was reported by one of the Ukrainian media that Saakashvili had given demonstrators 180 hryvnias. And if they brought friends, according to the organizers’ promises, they would receive another 20 hryvnias as a bonus for each involved. The ex-president of Georgia, however, claims that he has no money to pay for a new “Maidan” and he simply gathers people who intend to fight. Nevertheless, nothing happened this time and a large part of paid patriots quickly went home. Trust in a better future has already faded in Ukraine and the Kiev citizens do not support either the current president or his opponents.
Nothing big has happened yet and the stated objective of Saakashvili has not been achieved. In the midst of such events, it is difficult to predict anything, but also to underestimate this parody of “Maidan”.
