Pyotr Poroshenko received a telling slap from US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, who stated that neither he nor the French president had heard about a certain “Macron’s formula”.
Instead of inventing reasons for delaying the implementation of the Minsk agreements in the form of non-existent formulas, Poroshenko should have started working on the implementation of the “Steinmeier’s formula”, repeatedly supported by the “Normandy format”.
Despite this, the representatives of Kiev at the talks in Minsk every time pretend that they do not understand the meaning of the “Steinmeier’s formula”, and Poroshenko does not hurry to explain it to them, although he is a member of the “Normandy Four”. On the contrary, he invented not only the “Macron’s formula”, but also steps it includes to implement the Minsk agreements. At that, this fake is being discussed in the Ukrainian media for a week!
Naturally, Volker understands the position he places Poroshenko in by his statement. This case is really revealing, because Ukrainian politicians have been playing in virtual reality so much that they did not notice how in fictitious tales they no longer hesitate to mention European leaders and attribute them fictional subjects.
This message sends a signal to Poroshenko – Western politicians do not intend, as before, to play along with any Ukrainian madness; they will have to get used to the fact that they will have to call a spade a spade.
