The Ukrainian media began to cover a public criminal clash, Lutsenko versus Sytnic, Sytnic versus Lutsenko. Almost on the same day, the opponents pitted their agencies against each other, and the media prepared an audience for the battle of the ‘untouchables’.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has initiated an investigation against Lutsenko. The department, which is headed by Sytnic, will check the revenues of the Prosecutor General for the legality of their acquisition.
The courage and uncompromising action of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine would have been welcome if the office of the Attorney-General of Ukraine had not instituted criminal proceedings against… Sytnik.
The Head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine notes that he is not afraid of pressure from the media, which is loyal to the current authorities, and law-enforcement agencies. But it did not prevent him from initiating a retaliatory investigation against Lutsenko in response.
It is no coincidence that Poroshenko holds back on an anti-corruption court. In his absence, it is possible to predict the victory of his child’s godfather Lutsenko – he can always question the actions of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau in Ukrainian courts with the hope of winning. Sytnic can only appeal to his foreign protégés. It is time to make bet on who will win, but the population of Ukraine will find themselves losers once again.
