On December 13, the IV DPR Football Union Conference was held at the Olympysky stadium. The event was attended by Chairman of the People’s Council, Honorary President of the Football Union of the DPR Denis Pushilin, MPs Alexander Malkov and Vladimir Chekun, Acting Minister of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism Alexander Gromakov, President of the Football Union Igor Petrov, acting head of the Makeyevka City Council Valery Lyakhovets, head of the Amvrosiyevka District Council Nikolay Tarasenko, the veterans of football. A total of 75 delegates took part in the conference.
In his introductory speech, Denis Pushilin told that one of the directions of the recently created Russian Center is the development of sports in the Donetsk People’s Republic and football in particular.
“Our Republic is going through quite a difficult time. We do have a lot of problems, but nevertheless our citizens adhere to football traditions and are hungry for good matches. Therefore, despite all the existing difficulties, we need to set up beautiful spectacles and at the same time find solutions to existing issues.
For my part, I can assure you that with the assistance of the Russian Center, which is working to integrate the Donbass with Russia, a large number of matches are planned with teams from different regions of the Russian Federation. We will do our best to make these games happen.
In this regard, a number of counter-issues arise. For example, can we put up worthy teams and participate in these tournaments? We face a serious task, the solution of which we will have to tackle. I am glad that we have a Football Union in the Republic and there is an aspiration to develop football in the DPR,” the Speaker of the Parliament said.
For his part, Acting Minister of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism Alexander Gromakov urged the participants of the conference to unite their efforts for the development of football in the DPR.
“First of all, I want to thank the heads of the Makeyevka and the Amvrosievsky District Council present at the conference. Without the participation of municipal authorities, it is impossible to solve problematic issues, not only relating to football, but also in other spheres of life.
We live in a difficult time in the conditions of incessant military actions and the unrecognized DPR at the world level. However, despite this, we pin great hope to the development of this beautiful sport. At the same time, the Russian Federation, which is friendly to us, expresses its readiness to help in all areas.
We should be sympathetic to the fact that not all issues will immediately find their solution, even taking into account Russia’s support. Therefore, we face the challenge of uniting our efforts. The Football Union and federations in the field, clubs in cities and districts should work as one team. And Denis Vladimirovich and I are ready to participate in this process,” Alexander Gromakov said.
As part of the event, Denis Pushilin, Alexander Gromakov and Igor Petrov awarded veterans of football for their dedication to the sport, as well as presented awards and gifts to the best teams, players and sports journalists of the DPR.
