On May 2, a film in memory of the victims of the tragedy, which took place in Odessa in 2014, was screened in the Taras Shevchenko House of Cinema in Donetsk. The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin took part in the official part of the event.
The speaker of the DPR Parliament emphasized that this tragic event was unjustifiable and everything must be done to ensure that it would not recur in the future.
ʺThree years have passed since the day when Ukraine died as a state. Before these events, it was difficult to imagine that something like this could happen.
Those, who live in Odessa, are having a hard time now: they cannot honor the memory of their ancestors, they cannot say that they are Russians. But the sacrifices made at the altar of the purification of Ukraine were not in vain. This is a lesson to all of us. We must pay attention to youth, to their education and to learning of history by young people. This is to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again,ʺ the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council said.
Also, a resident of Odessa Marina Ulyanova, who witnessed the events of May 2 in her home town, addressed the gathering during the event.
ʺOdessa residents resist to this day. But the authorities do anything to deprive Odessa residents of the memory of those who died in the Trade Union building. And I want to say thanks to the people of Donbass who have not hardened and are taking Odessa tragedy as their own,ʺ Marina Ulyanova said.
