On May 26, in the city of Makeyevka, a solemn opening of a sports hall of the sports complex “Atlant” took place. The event was attended by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin, the Minister of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the DPR Mikhail Mishin, and the acting of the Makeyevka City Council, Valery Lyakhovets.
Denis Pushilin congratulated the Makeyevka residents with the opening of a new sports hall and assured that such public places will be opened throughout the territory of the Republic.
“It is very important for our young Republic that young people have the opportunity to do sports and keep a healthy lifestyle. We are trying our best to support the development of sports in our Republic, but it is difficult to cover everything. It is worth noting that 26 public sports institutions have been destroyed during the war, and many of them have already been restored thanks to the work of the DPR Ministry of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism, as well as local Councils. But even more sports institutions have been made worthless not by war, but by years of Ukraine’s independence…
We have a lot of work to do in this direction, and it is already under way. The opening of the sports club is a confirmation. It’s nice to see young future champions with a burning look. I want to express my gratitude to all those involved in this event and the coaching staff, because this is invaluable labour,” the Speaker of the DPR parliament stressed.
