At the time of the meeting in Minsk, the Ukrainian representatives did not quite understand what the final version of the “Reintegration” law would look like. This was stated by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the permanent plenipotentiary representative of the DPR in the Contact group’s negotiations in Minsk Denis Pushilin in “Without ties” TV programme on “Oplot TV” channel.
ʺWe have not heard a clear position from the Ukrainian representatives about why the “Reintegration” law is necessary, how it can contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict, as it is combined with the Minsk agreements and meetings in the “Normandy format”. The Ukrainian authorities repeatedly called Russia ‘an aggressor’, screamed everywhere ʺwar!”, but they do not announce war and do not cut off diplomatic ties with the ‘aggressor country’ as well. This is Ukraine. So I doubt that they will just abondon the Minsk process or “Normandy format”. But it is not clear how are they going to live now with the “Reintegration” law.
As for us, the war has not stopped since 2014. They shell in spite of the truce. Unfortunately, people die and get injured. In fact, we will not change anything after the adoption of this law. Another element of the blockade has appeared – there are problems with communication. But if you go to the bottom of things and think, against whom it purportedly targets, it becomes clear that it, first of all, hits socially unprotected strata of the population. Therefore, we will once again learn to get along without Ukraine,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
According to Denis Pushilin, “Minsk” is an international platform that helps People’s Republics to bring their point of view to the world community.
ʺWe can declare our position in Minsk. That is how you should treat a negotiating venue. But given that Ukraine is constantly doing not friendly and not peace-making steps, of course, we need to continue to build our statehood in all directions. We have to solve very serious and complex tasks,ʺ the plenipotentiary representative said.
