DPR delegation in Minsk calls Ukrainian party for tit-for-tat measures to maintain ‘school armistice’

On November 15, in Minsk, a regular meeting of the Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbass took place. The agenda included issues of compliance with the ceasefire, as well as the implementation of agreements on the withdrawal of prohibited weapons and the disengagement of forces and facilities.

As the source at the peace talks reports from Minsk, the DPR and LPR representatives reaffirmed the Republics’ commitment to the ceasefire announced in the Donbass and the implementation of measures to ensure a sustainable ceasefire.

“People’s Republics’ representatives supported the decision of the Contact Group and reaffirmed the commitment to the ceasefire announced in connection with the start of the academic year and the unconditional implementation of additional measures aimed at ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable indefinite ceasefire, including the implementation of all the relevant orders,” the source said.

According to the source, the head of the DPR delegation paid special attention to the absence of orders given by the Ukrainian party to the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in maintaining the “school armistice,” which formally came into force in August. The DPR, on its part, promulgated the relevant orders in early autumn. Moreover, special working groups operate in units and formations of the Republic’s forces to maintain the ceasefire.

“In the event of the use of weapons by the DPR Armed Forces, seniors of the working groups are obliged to take urgent measures to cease fire and conduct a detailed investigation with the punishment of all the guilty officials. Unfortunately, these kind of measures from Ukraine have not yet followed. The DPR envoy insisted on the need to publish the orders by the Ukrainian party. While such orders have not been published, the Republics have every right to doubt both the instructions given in these documents and their existence in general,” the source emphasised.
