On November 9, at the training ground, in the village of Nizhnaya Krynka in Makeyevka, fighters of the special purpose unit of the Transport Ministry “Vityaz” passed the standards for the right to wear a blue beret. The event dedicated to the 2nd anniversary of the formation of the unit was visited by the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko, deputies of the DPR People’s Council, representatives of relevant ministries and departments.
The Head of the Republic spoke about the importance of the passing of this test for the fighters of the unit.
“You see the final stage of passing the standards for the right to wear blue berets. It was a long process, during the year the guys have been engaged in airborne training. For any paratrooper a blue beret is an honour, glory and dignity. I’m sure all the guys will get the right to wear a beret and will wear it with pride.
I’m remembering 2014, now I look at our fighters and I understand that over the past three years our units have really turned into a real army. We will be able to defeat any enemy and overcome all obstacles,” Alexander Zakharchenko said.
In turn, the commander of the Vityaz unit, deputy of the People’s Council Roman Kornienko stressed the importance of today’s event for the history of the Armed Forces of the DPR.
“Vityaz” is the first unit in the history of the Republic, which passes standards for the right to wear a blue beret. Only those soldiers who jumped with a parachute are allowed. Each fighter will fight for the beret. The first stage was passed by everybody. The next stages will be shooting, throwing grenades and hand-to-hand fighting. Today, fighters make history,” Roman Kornienko said.
