Representatives of DPR and LPR at negotiations in Minsk condemn terrorist acts of Ukraine in Crimea and provocation of AFU along contact line in Donbass

On August 26, 2016, issues related to the deterioration of the situation on the contact line, exchange of prisoners, and the payment of pensions were discussed during the meeting of the contact group on conflict resolution in Donbass.

The question of pensions’ payment by Ukraine has once again become one of the most ardent at today’s meeting. The statements of the Ukrainian side about the difficult financial situation, the need for additional checks on the number of ‘ghost employees’ among pensioners are excuses, this was announced by the authorized representative of the DPR in the trilateral contact group Denis Pushilin. He stressed that speeding up the negotiation process depends largely on the adoption of regulations and the roadmap by the contact group.

“According to the plenipotentiary representative of the DPR, the regulations will systematize the work of the subgroups and the contact group, allow recording the agreements reached and introducing penalties for parties’ failure to implement certain paragraphs and the rejection of the previously announced words and positions. These are mechanisms that can greatly improve the efficiency of the negotiation process,” said a source in the trilateral negotiations.

The aggravation of the military situation in Donbass is the major concern. It was also announced during today’s meeting in Minsk by Denis Pushilin.

“Over the last day the territory of the Republic has been fired 545 times. Ukrainian military have re-used illegal ammunition of 122 mm and 152 mm caliber. Four houses were damaged. And the previous day resulted in 14 destroyed houses and civilian casualties – six injured and two dead. The DPR plenipotentiary representative expressed indignation at the actions of the Ukrainian side and called on the OSCE to more stringent measures and investigation of the shelling of the DPR territory by MLRS “Grad” on August 19,” the source at negotiations in Minsk said.

Representatives of the People’s Republic in Minsk condemned the terrorist acts of Ukraine in relation to Crimea and constant provocations of the Ukrainian army on the contact line in Donbass. According to Denis Pushilin, in such actions of the Ukrainian government nationalistic and even extremist sentiments are increasingly shown, and this fact in no way does bring Ukraine to peace.

“Moreover, such short-sighted policy of official Kyiv will lead to rocking of the situation in the geopolitical space, that in the first place will have negative consequences for Ukraine,” the source voiced the position of the representatives of the DPR and LPR at negotiations in Minsk.
