On September 9, 2016, a ceremony on the occasion of 95th birthday of the Great Patriotic War’s veteran Ivan Kulago and handing him the state award “For Labour Valour” has been held in the Donetsk House of Culture Employees.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin, the Deputy Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Olga Makeyeva, members of the People’s Council Alexander Malkov and Miroslav Rudenko.
The Deputy Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Olga Makeyeva was the first one to congratulate the hero of the anniversary. The Vice-Speaker of the Parliament read out the decree of the Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko on awarding with the medal “For Labour Valour” of a member of the DPR’s veterans presidium’s organization, World War II veteran Ivan Kulaga for special merits in the exploratory and research activities for the commemoration of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945’s participants, the patriotic education of young people and in connection with the 95th anniversary of his birthday.
“Dear Mr. Kulaga, on behalf of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko I heartily congratulate you on this wonderful day, the day of your 95th anniversary!
You have had a long glorious life. You have entered on the path of the Great Patriotic War as a nineteen youngster, you went along the long hard road and finished it in 1945 at Konigsberg. You protected the whole world among our heroes-liberators, secured peace in our land and gave us all the opportunity to be born, live and today congratulate you on this wonderful holiday!
We are proud of you, proud of your generation, which showed the world that the love of the motherland is stronger than any enemy. Today, in your beautiful age you are not ready to rest. You keep the creative life and do everything to make the heroic names and heroic events of our history forever remain in the Memory Book. Strong health and long life to you, respect and love of family and people close to you.
And if there are tears in your eyes, let them be only because of joy and happiness! Dear Mr. Kulaga, you are our treasure. Congratulations!” Olga Makeyeva addressed.
Then The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin appealed to Ivan Kulaga with words of gratitude for the great work on perpetuating of historical memory of the Donetsk region.
“Dear Mr. Kulaga, in fact, I look on you with admiring envy, and I would like to live for so long and keep such a sober and clear mind. You were with us in the People’s Council, I was struck by the sharpness of your mind as you handed us your message.
I wish you good health, I wish you to you to broadcast your optimistic attitude and perseverance to other generations for as long as possible. It is very important for us! Largely due to the fact that we have the opportunity to interact with the veterans, it helped us to do what we do – to defend our homeland and save the historical memory with weapons.
The war is not over yet, but we retain the optimism and confidence that we will win, as in the distant 45th year. And today, with an open mind and absolutely clear vision, we can look into the eyes of you, our ancestors that heroically defended our land, of and our descendants, because we have not given our land at the mercy,” Denis Pushilin said.
The Speaker of the Parliament presented him with a gift certificate for the installation of plastic windows.
The Chairman of the People’s Council’s Committee for Public Associations and Religious Organizations deputy Alexander Malkov in his congratulatory speech wished the veteran to maintain his usual inspiration to work with the younger generation.
“Dear Mr. Kulaga! I warmly congratulate you on your holiday! Knowing your boundless energy, love of young people, I wish you to continue instilling diligence, teach the younger generation heroism, because just by being close to you, the people become charged with all these qualities,” Alexander Malkov emphasised.
On behalf of the People’s Union and the Organization of Veterans the parliamentarian presented a celebrant with a gift silver Russian ruble of 1899.
The chairman of the People’s Council’s Committee for Education, Science and Culture, deputy Miroslav Rudenko thanked Ivan Kulaga for hard work.
“Mr. Kulaga, I sincerely congratulate you on your birthday! Your anniversary is a day of unity and celebration for all collectives and teams that you pulled together with strength of your spirit and knowledge. A huge number of exploratory and publishing projects to perpetuate the memory of generations appeared thanks to your hard work. We are glad that there are such significant personalities in Donbass, there are people that move the history forward.
I knew you long before I became a member of the People’s Council, I also participated in the exploratory operations. And I remember how much effort you have made to find information about the dead – it’s very much worth it,” Miroslav Rudenko stressed.
Then, on behalf of the People’s Council’s Committee for Education, Science and Culture Miroslav Rudenko gave the birthday man the letter of thanks for many years of work on patriotic education of youth, for professional in the exploratory and research work as well as in connection with the anniversary.
