Alexander Kurenkov: With his statements, Andrey Yermak tries to avoid responsibility for failure to comply with Minsk agreements
The statement of the aide to the President of Ukraine Zelensky Andrey Yermak that the special status is not the subject of negotiations at the meetings in Minsk and in the “Normandy format” was commented in an interview with RIA Novosti by the deputy of the DPR People’s Council, Alexander Kurenkov.
“Andrey Yermak’s paltering and wriggling. He perfectly understands that the Minsk agreements and the Steinmeier formula provide for the entry into force of a law in Ukraine, which introduces a special status for the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, first on a temporary basis and then on a permanent basis. However, he manoeuvres all the time and tries by any means to evade responsibility for the obligations undertaken by representatives of Ukraine, although he himself took part in agreeing on the Steinmeier formula.
Even in diplomacy, one must have courage and articulate one’s position. All statements that the Ukrainian party accepts the Steinmeier formula, but with certain additional conditions, in fact mean that Ukraine does not accept the Steinmeier formula and intends to continue to sabotage the implementation of the Minsk agreements. If Andrey Yermak thinks that with the help of such statements he will manage to evade responsibility, he is mistaken,” Alexander Kurenkov emphasized.
