Alexander Zakharchenko and Denis Pushilin take part in celebrations on occasion of Crimea’s Reunification with Russia Day
On Friday, March 16, the city of Simferopol (the Republic of Crimea, the Russian Federation) is hosting festive events dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the all-Crimean referendum in 2014 and the Day of the Crimea’s reunification with Russia.
The Donetsk People’s Republic is represented by DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko, Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Head of the Russian Center Denis Pushilin, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Alexander Timofeyev, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Dmitry Trapeznikov. Head of the Republic of Crimea, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District Kirill Stepanov take part in the celebrations.
In his welcome speech, Sergey Aksyonov stressed that during the events that took place four years ago all the residents of the Crimea were working as one team, and also highlighted the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“In March 2014, sometimes there was no time to talk. We worked as a team. Of course, all this would not have taken place without the personal management of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. His personal decisions led to a peaceful return (of Crimea to Russia – ed.) without losses, without blood,” Sergey Aksyonov said.
In turn, Alexander Zakharchenko noted that the Donbass residents supported the Crimean people during the so significant for the Crimea historical event.
“On my own behalf and on behalf of the entire people of the Donbass, I want to congratulate you on this day. What you did (in March 2014 – ed.) is a truly historic event. We, on our part, with a shuddering heart, were waiting for this referendum and thought what to expect next. Your act has become an example for us. Your victory inspired our people, too,” the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic stressed.
DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko presented the Order of Friendship to the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov.
Denis Pushilin joined the congratulations. According to the Speaker of the Parliament of the DPR, events in the Crimea gave strength to the Donbass inhabitants who did not accept the coup d’état in Kiev.
“Dear all! I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of the reunification of the Crimea with Russia and I would like to note that we are living in a very difficult time, when the world is changing. And one of the brightest signs that the world is changing in the right direction, of course, is the Crimea in 2014.
Dear friends, for me personally the Crimea, besides the spiritual closeness that we have developed over the past four years, is also dear due to the fact that I passed here my compulsory military service. All the officers, comrade-in-arms took a worthy part in the resistance, which was organized in 2014. I was proud to look at what was happening in the Crimea four years ago, and this gave me strength, and, probably, to everyone who also did not accept the coup that had taken place in Kiev. Both I and Alexander Vladimirovich could tell a lot about the feelings and vibes that we were experiencing when we were watching on television what was happening here, how events were developing. But I can say for sure that one of the most memorable and the most important slogans in those days at rallies was “Crimea – Donbass – Russia!”. I am sure that today we are together. I am sure that we will continue to be together. I am sincerely happy for you!” Denis Pushilin said.
In the solemn part, the Head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, presented the Order “For Fidelity to the Duty” to the DPR Head, Alexander Zakharchenko, and the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Denis Pushilin, for the maintenance of peace, active work on preserving and strengthening Russian traditions and culture among Russian compatriots in the territory of the DPR and great contribution in defense of the Donbass inhabitants.
According to the Head of the Republic of Crimea, residents of the Donbass can always count on the support of the Crimeans in the struggle for their choice.
“The heroic Donbass defended its right to be part of the Russian world in a fierce confrontation with the bloody Bandera regime. We bow our heads before your courage, our friends! We believe that peace will come to the land of the Donbass. You can always count on the support of the Crimeans,” Sergey Aksyonov said.
For his part, the DPR Head thanked the leadership of the Republic of Crimea and all Crimeans on behalf of the Donbass defenders.
“I want to say a big thank you to the leadership of the Republic, who is present in the hall, to all the people of the Crimea for this high award. I believe this is a reward to the whole of the Donetsk People’s Republic, a reward for those 15-year-old, 40-year-old, 60-year-old fighters who are in the trenches and are defending the Republic since 2014. As well as miners who are mining coal under fire, who are in mines without electricity. And to each of the electricians, the gas workers who, under sniper fire, repair power lines, and to all who clean the streets. To doctors, teachers… To all the inhabitants of the DPR. This award is ours. And I am very pleased that it was presented to our Republic here, in this hall, on this holy land.
The Crimean spring is a very big concept. In 2014, Russia said no – to humiliation, no to trampling on rights and yes to the pride, yes to the respect for itself as a country and every citizen of the Russian Federation and the Russian world. The words “Enough!”, “Stop humiliating Russia!” were heard here in 2014 on the Crimean land. The people of the Crimea to the whole world said that it was a date after which no one can ever humiliate Russia,” the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic stressed.
We recall that on Friday, March 16, celebrations on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the all-Crimean referendum, which resulted in the reunification of Crimea with Russia, began in the Republic of Crimea. According to the results of the referendum, 96.77% of the voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of the residents of Sevastopol voted for joining the Russian Federation.
Today throughout the Republic there are folk festivals, historical excursions, patriotic and thematic hours, festive concerts, car rallies, flashmobs.
The official part of the solemn events is planned to be held in the capital of the Republic of Crimea. After the solemn meeting in the parliament building and the opening of the photo exhibition “Crimea. Everything is only starting,” in which an official delegation from the Donetsk People’s Republic, led by Alexander Zakharchenko, is participating, there will be a rally “Russia-Donbass. Together we are might!” The event will be held on the square in front of the Crimean government building near the monument to the People’s Militia.
