Before discussing new areas for disengagement of forces, it is necessary to complete it in the pilot areas – Denis Pushilin

Disengagement of forces and means in the conflict zone in Donbass should be completed in three pilot sites, only after that it is advisable to discuss the other front points. This was stated by the head of the DPR delegation at Minsk negotiations, the Chairman of the People’s Council Denis Pushilin.

“Despite the difficult situation, we insist on the fulfillment by the parties of the obligations on disengagement of forces and means in three pilot locations in order to move on to other areas,” says Denis Pushilin’s comments on the results of Contact group’s videoconference on October 11, published on the website of the Donetsk news agency. “There are quite a lot of such locations along the contact line, but step by step we will achieve peace.”

The head of the DPR’s delegation noted that further talks in terms of performance did not meet the expectations of the People’s Republics. “However, there’s still some hope for disengagement of forces and means in the area of Stanitsa Luganskaya in the near future,” Denis Pushilin said.

He added that during the videoconference the issue of intensified recent attacks on the territory of the DPR by the Ukrainian law enforcers was also raised.

The Framework Decision on disengagement of forces and means was signed by the participants of the Contact group on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbass on 21-23rd of September. The document defines three pilot disengagement locations: Petrovskoye (DPR) as well as Stanitsa Luganskaya, and Zolotoe (LPR). For each of the outlet areas there is a defined area – at least 2 km in width and 2 km in depth. In Zolotoye the divisions of warring parties were disengaged on October 1, in Petrovskoye area – on October 7.
