The process of destruction of an image of "fair" and "democratic" Europe continues to pick up steam: doping scandal at the Olympic Games was also added to the number of the western mistakes.
The widespread opinion that there was a coup d'etat in Ukraine in February, 2014, in my opinion, is wrong. There was a real revolution in Ukraine, when one form of the power was replaced by another - democracy was replaced by dictatorship of the extreme nationalist. In other words, in Ukraine, as a result of the victory of “Maidan”, a dictatorship with strong fascist traits was established.
The pleasure after Nadezhda Savchenko's return did not last long. In May Mr. Gerashchenko sang the praises of Nadia and called her the Ukrainian Joan of Arc, at the same time he was among of the first who suggested exchanging her. There were poems devoted to her, she was prophesied the great political future, people tried to save her from “unscrpulous Ukrainian politicians” (but where would they come from after all those lustrations?).
The next rise in utility tariffs in July compelled the Ukrainians to take to the streets. "We`ll have to give our whole wages to pay for utilities. And how shall we live on?" protesters wondered. "But if the government speaks of European prices, then let it give European wages as well!" people demanded.
Again, we see how, in fits and convulsions, the Ukrainian side calls upon the international community to stop cooperation with Russia. The EU countries' leaders have no desire to withdraw Ukraine from economic and political crisis, the door to the EU for Kiev is closed. However, Kiev elite continues to create illusions about the great prospects of Ukraine in the European Union. The next step is the belief in the abolition of visa regime for Ukrainian citizens.
