On May 9, a military parade, dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and a public rally “Immortal Regiment” were held in the main square of the Republic’s capital. The event was attended by the Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the DPR’s People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka, People’s Council’s deputies, heads of ministries and departments, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the citizens and the guests of the capital.

The Head of the Republic Denis Pushilin, addressing the participants of the event, thanked the veterans of the Great Patriotic War for their heroism and courage, who had led our people to the Great Victory over fascism.

ʺThe Russian people are famous for their resilience. Our strength lies in honouring the deeds of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers. Our strength lies in the veterans, to whom we bow, and the participants of the “Immortal Regiment” rally, who are carrying the portraits of those, who overcame fascism.

People’s inspiration, pride and awareness of contemporaries, that we are the heirs of the Great Victory and it is up to us to protect memory of military glory, is growing with every passing year. We will not forget about the exploits of the Soviet Union’s people – we will not forget about how much effort was put into rebuilding the country, on front lines and the home front. And we promise that we will bring the power of truth through years and pass it on to future generations! The lessons of that terrible war are timeless, therefore the memory of it will be passed down for generations,ʺ Denis Pushilin noted.

The action “Immortal Regiment” took place in the Donetsk People’s Republic for the fifth time. About 100 thousand people participated in the march this year.
