#Commentary of Alexander Kurenkov on delaying process of settlement of conflict by new Kiev power
The statement of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky demonstrates his incompetence as a politician and a continuation of the policy, which was once taken by Petro Poroshenko.
The President of Ukraine expressed readiness to negotiate with Russia on the implementation of the Minsk agreements during a meeting with the Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which took place yesterday. However, as we all are well aware, Russia is not a party to the conflict in these negotiations. In addition, such statements once again show that Mr. Zelensky does not want to have a direct dialogue with the Republics, continues acting and being afraid to make decisions, preferring to continue the course that was taken by Petro Poroshenko. The course of an escalation of the conflict and delaying the process of its peaceful settlement.
Earlier, on May 23, he stated in the ether of “Hromadske TV” channel that he excluded the possibility of negotiating with Russia. Two days earlier, the Head of the Presidential Administration reported that the head of the state intended to put the question of the dialogue to a referendum. Today, we see a diametrically opposed statement. Such behaviour of the Ukrainian president and his administration demonstrates his complete inability to have constructive negotiations. His predecessor also used to make big proclamations regarding the Minsk agreements, however, the result was well known.
