#Commentary of Denis Pushilin on completion in March 2018 of OSCE SMM’s mandate in Donbass

At the end of 2017, Ukraine by absolutely unacceptable measures basically knocked out representatives of Russia from the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the ceasefire regime by which it actually destroyed the work of the only body where the interaction of the parties was still maintained with the mediation efforts of Russian officers.

The completion of the terms of the mandate for the activities of the OSCE SMM in the Donbass, which are entrusted by the Minsk agreements with monitoring and verification of the agreements’ implementation, is yet another unfavourable moment.

In the absence of the Mission, the levers of influence on the Ukrainian party in terms of implementing peace initiatives will be levelled. We believe that the mandate for the work of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in the Donbass should be extended.
