#Commentary of Ekaterina Martyanova on Ukraine’s suicidal policy
The use of the term ‘ATO’ will be correct only until April 30, Poroshenko said during his last visit to the Lugansk region. According to him, after this day, it will be right to say “JFO”, that is, “joint forces operation”. But the thing is that Poroshenko did not specify: was it right to unleash a civil war in the country and does it matter how to call the killing of civilians – “ATO” or “JFO”?
The most astonishing thing is that the president of Ukraine does not seem to notice the whole absurdity of his statement. However, the entire Ukrainian government suffers from such schizophrenia. For example, today the Rada decided to end the Programme of Economic Cooperation with Russia, while it does not seem likely to stop trading with it.
Indeed, why stop trading with the “aggressor country”? After all, in fact, all the pseudo-patriotic stories about Ukraine’s terrible enemy help to keep the population within the bounds of permissible discontent with the authorities, and continue to further plunder the country, thereby bringing it closer to death and ultimate destruction.
One could laugh at this schizophrenic farce, if you did not have to pay for it with human lives. After all, whatever the name of the operation – “antiterrorist” or “joint forces” – its essence does not change from this: it is a kind of suicide of Ukraine as a once single state.
By the way, let us recall a small historical fact. It was on this day, April 30, the day when “ATO” turns into “JFO”, when in 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide. An eloquent historical parallel.
