#Commentary of Miroslav Rudenko on Verkhovna Rada’s condemnation of Polish law banning “Bandera ideology”
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine condemned a law on responsibility for propaganda of “Bandera ideology” adopted by the Sejm and the Senate of Poland and called upon the Polish President Andrzej Duda not to sign this document.
It is clear not only for the West, but also for the East that the “Bandera ideology” is the basis of the ruling regime in Kiev. Only now the Western ‘partners’ decided to protect themselves at the legislative level from spreading the ideas of Ukrainian nationalists in their countries. But the reaction of the Verkhovna Rada surprises with its cynicism of wording.
ʺThe Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine does not accept rejects unequivocally and rejects the policy of double standards and the imposition of ideas of collective responsibility of the Ukrainian people,” the statement said. Look who is talking about double standards and what is the collective responsibility of the Ukrainian people? The Ukrainians in Poland live, work and rest, and there are no claims against the Ukrainian people in the Polish legislation. The propaganda of “Bandera ideology”, spreading of which was attributed to all people by the Ukrainian Parliament for some reason, is subject to the prohibition.
There will be no (according to the statement of the VR) “strengthening of Anti-Ukrainian tendencies in the Polish society”. Anti-Bandera ones – yes. And it happened because the Poles remember and honor their history, and Ukraine perfectly demonstrates the consequences of raising Nazi supporters to the status of heroes. Europe put bluntly a long time ago that Ukraine and the “Bandera ideology” would not end up in the EU.
