#Commentary of Valery Skorokhodov on West’s reluctance to influence Ukraine in Minsk process
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov criticized the western approach to resolving the conflict in Donbass. The West has traditionally shifted all responsibility for the implementation of the Minsk agreements to Moscow and it does not remind Kiev that Ukraine is designated as the sole executor in certain paragraphs.
At the same time, Ukraine, in accordance with the Set of Measures, should harmonize the documents adopted with the Donbass representatives, and some issues with the OSCE representatives. This is why the Trilateral Contact Group has been established. It is not the DPR and the LPR should pass an amnesty law or amend the Ukrainian Constitution! Or should the Russian Federation do this as well?
But it should be no surprise over the absurdity of Western politicians’ statements about the Donbass conflict, the usual double standards of European democracy have justified the use of the AFU against the population of Donbass, which dared to disagree with the Ukrainian coup d’état in 2014 and to hold a referendum on independence.
The Ukrainian law enforcement officials’ discussion of plans to wipe out the local population and to seize the territories occurs regularly. Why does the world not hear the loud statements of the Ukrainian officials about how they will “teach Donbass to love Ukraine”, about “genetic trash” and 1.5 million superfluous people?
Ukraine does not understand that its entire population is superfluous and that its Western partners are pushing the country towards self-destruction. And Russia and Donbass are trying to prevent this, as it sounds paradoxically to the Ukrainian people, Leonid Kuchma, the permanent plenipotentiary representative of Ukraine at negotiations in Minsk, has already admitted that the country is drifting into an economic abyss. It is a pity that he says this for foreign publications instead of preventing the suicide of Ukraine in Minsk.
