#Commentary of Vladislav Berdichevsky on Poroshenko’s speech at Munich Security Conference

If we discard all the nonsense from the speech of Ukrainian President Poroshenko, compiled according to dusty Russophobic guiding manuals, we can single out one important point. The Ukrainian authorities officially declare that they are shelling the Donbass and will continue to do so.

“If Russia ceases shelling, then there will be peace. If Ukraine stops shelling, there will be no Ukraine,” Poroshenko showed his cards during a speech at the Munich Security Conference.

First, Ukraine is not shelling the territory of Russia, while not hesitating to declare that it conducts shelling of its own, ostensibly to protect itself.

Secondly, no one from the collective West seriously pays attention to this bland confession about violation of the Minsk agreements at such a level. This means that Ukraine understands perfectly well – there will be no sanctions or even slap on the wrist.

Permissiveness of such a scale for the sake of demonizing recalcitrant Russia in any case will have extremely negative consequences for both the organizers and the performers of such a project. Because it has always been like that in the history.
