#Commentary of Vladislav Berdichevsky on Ukraine’s preparations for imposition of martial law
The sabotage by Ukraine of any process aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass continues. When Ukraine runs out of coherent arguments, it is disdain to use unsubstantiated inadequate criticism against all in its rhetoric. This is exactly what happened at the meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk on July 5 2017.
The Ukrainian side does not consider it necessary to take into account not only information from the representatives of the Lugansk and the Donetsk People’s Republics, but also information provided in the reports of International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations. In the view of the representatives of Ukraine, it cannot be considered official.
In parallel, this destructive position began to be widely backed in Ukrainian media by the unproven involvement of ‘aggressors’ in any incident in Ukraine. For example, if there are a shooting, robbery or plunder – the mercenaries recruited by the Russian intelligence agencies are responsible for that, even though they are members of Ukrainian extremist organizations; acts of sabotage are the work of subversive groups from the republics. Even an accumulation of garbage in Lviv has not been without accusations of our side.
The position of Ukraine is clear — it does not wish to withdraw from the negotiating process for a peaceful settlement, but the peace settlement itself does not suit it. It is therefore necessary to denigrate any opportunity for peace as much as possible, justifying its actions by the aggressive stance of opponents.
What is the reason for this? All these computer viruses, ubiquitous hand of the Kremlin, telephone warning calls about mines, crime wars with blown-up cars have the sole purpose of imposing martial law and postponing elections for the next election year. The elections will be unequivocally lost by the Poroshenko’s camarilla, and because they have done enough for many years of imprisonment, the loss of power for them means an unequivocal death.
