Contact Group agrees upon full compliance with ceasefire during forthcoming Easter holidays

On March 29, a regular meeting of the Contact group on peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbass took place in Minsk. The agenda included issues related to the situation at the line of demarcation, the complete transport blockade of Donbass by Ukraine and the exchange of prisoners.

According to the Minsk source in the peace negotiations, the humanitarian subgroup is working on all the details of the exchange of identified persons held by the Ukrainian side.

ʺInformation on the status of prisoners is currently being collected and processed and the necessity of developing a mechanism for the return of documents is being discussed as well. It is still too early to talk about specific results or dates of exchange,ʺ the source said.

According to the source, the Ukrainian side continues to insist on the withdrawal of the provisional administrations from the enterprises of Ukrainian jurisdiction, referring to the fact that these decisions of the DPR and the LPR have been adopted unilaterally without prior discussion with the subgroup on economic issues.

ʺAt the same time, Ukraine refuses to discuss the lifting of the transport blockade at the same meeting of the subgroup on economic issues. The DPR plenipotentiary envoy Denis Pushilin noted once again that the introduction of external administrations was a forced and temporary measure. The interim administrations will not leave enterprises until Ukraine implements the Minsk agreements and there is a full political settlement,ʺ the source said, referring to the words of Denis Pushilin.

Also, according to the source, the Contact group was able to agree on full compliance with the ceasefire during upcoming Easter holidays during the meeting.

The decision will enter into force on April 1, 2017, at 00:00. In addition, the date of disengagement of forces and means was mentioned and it was April 6, 2017,ʺ the source summed up.
