Denis Pushilin calls on participants in negotiation process in Minsk to start implementing agreements reached

On June 7, in Minsk, a regular meeting of the Contact group on the conflict settlement the Donbass was held. The agenda included the implementation of the agreement on the disengagement of forces and means in the third pilot section, the preparation of the prisoners’ exchange and the implementation of the Package of Measures’ political paragraphs.

As the source in the peace talks reports from the Belarusian capital, security issues have become the main ones at today’s meeting of the Contact group.

According to the source, the DPR envoy Denis Pushilin called on the participants of the meeting to implement the agreements reached earlier in order to prevent further repetition of the tragic events that had occurred the day before as a result of shelling of the Republican territory by Ukrainian security forces.

“Otherwise, the dead woman, her son Vladislav who became an orphan and 15 other wounded, as well as nine completely destroyed objects and 97 more damaged, will not be the ultimate consequences of the AFU activities (according to statistics from the Donetsk People’s Republic from May 24 through June 6, 2017, – Ed.).

Only mirror-based disengagement of forces and facilities in the third pilot site in Stanitsa Luganskaya (which, incidentally, was once again supported by all parties and should be held on June 8), withdrawal of heavy weapons to storage sites and the discussion of further disengagement sites will allow us to switch from an armistice in words to truce in reality,” the source of the People’s Republics representatives at the peace talks cites the position.

According to the source, the negotiators could not ignore the situation in the area of the Zhelobok settlement (the Slavyanoserbsky district of the LPR). In this area Ukrainian security forces attempted to displace the units of the LPR People’s Militia, there are victims and destruction.

Representatives of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics called on the OSCE SMM to objectively display information about the incident and, in general, to react more quickly in such cases.

In addition, at the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup representatives of the People’s Republics managed to insist on the continuation of the verification process that was previously interrupted by the Ukrainian party and its mandatory completion before the next round of negotiations.
