Denis Pushilin commends meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Ukraine
The first, in a while, meeting of the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Ukraine is a positive step, but the effectiveness of negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine is not yet clear. It was stated by the plenipotentiary representative of the DPR in the Contact group on Donbass Denis Pushilin to RIA Novosti.
On December 7, the meeting, initiated by the Ukrainian side, between Sergey Lavrov and Pavel Klimkin was held on a bilateral basis in Vienna. At the end of the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that he had discussed with the Russian colleague the issue of prisoner exchange in Donbass.
According to Denis Pushilin, Kiev put forward a proposal to hold a bilateral meeting because there were “too many points of tension”.
ʺIt is perfectly clear for Ukraine now that the practice of only sabotage and simulation of the implementation of the Minsk agreements is not productive, and without Russia, without the most consistent ambassador, the situation cannot change.
I do not know how effective it will be, because Ukraine is Ukraine, but it is nonetheless a positive step in general,ʺ the speaker of the DPR parliament said.
