Denis Pushilin comments on Red Cross proposal to establish security zones in Donbass

The proposal of the International Committee of the Red Cross to establish security zones around important infrastructure facilities of the region will not lead to a resolution of the conflict, but to its conservation. It was said today by the permanent plenipotentiary representative of the DPR at negotiations in Minsk and the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council during an interview with journalists.

According to the parliamentary speaker, there is no need to establish security zones in Donbass provided that the previous agreements reached are implemented.

ʺInitially, three pilot areas were identified and the following had to be determined. As soon as a separation of forces is implemented throughout the line of contact, it is no longer necessary to separate the individual security zones around critical infrastructure objects.

The agreement on the separation of forces and means implies the withdrawal of arms and enemy forces along the entire contact line, thus protecting not only individual objects but also human settlements in the immediate proximity,ʺ Denis Pushilin emphasized.
