Denis Pushilin comments on Ukrainian initiative to enact Donbass ‘reintegration’ law (video)
The draft law on “reintegration” may be submitted to the West as one of the premises for implementation by Ukraine of the Minsk agreements. It was stated by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the permanent plenipotentiary representative of the DPR at Contact Group’s negotiations in Minsk Denis Pushilin in live “Vesti” programme on “Russia-24” TV channel.
The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council that the law on the Donbass Special Status, which would expire on October 18, for all its deficiency, had been assort of a basis for negotiations.
ʺThe old Special Status law was inadequate and inconsistent. It was blocked and did not act. Nevertheless, there was some hope that the Minsk agreements would be implemented, at least, its political part. The ‘Reintegration’ law, which is being discussed in Ukraine, has not been discussed with us. It is not yet clear what is proposed, but, based on open data, there is an increase in the powers of the Ukrainian authorities, but nothing is envisaged for the local population. This can be construed as a direct violation of the Minsk agreements.
Poroshenko makes excuses to the Western partners and simulates activity. In all probability, by demonstrating this ‘Reintegration’ Act, he will try to present it as the implementation of the Minsk agreements,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
The envoy, responding to the question on the increase in attempts to assassinate the DPR authorities, said that the commission of terrorist acts was one of the instruments, with the help of which Kiev was trying to terrorize the local population and the authorities of the Republic.
ʺThe purpose of a state such as Ukraine is to try to destabilize the situation by means of terrorist acts. Attempts to eliminate high-ranking officials is testament to that,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
