Denis Pushilin comments on yet another round of information war in Donbass
The Ukrainian government has adopted a strategy of “information reintegration” of the Donbass territory, which contains a set of provisions and guidelines for conducting pro-Ukrainian propaganda in the territory of the People’s Republics of Donbass. As Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, stated in an interview with RT, the decision of the Ukrainian Cabinet did not become a surprise for the DPR government, they are accustomed to information aggression from the Ukrainian party and are ready for reciprocal steps.
According to Denis Pushilin, nothing fundamentally new in the so-called “information reintegration” strategy of Donbass is not contained.
“Take, for example, the proposal to block the signals of our TV channels in the territories that are controlled by the Ukrainian side. This practice is far from new. We regularly record attempts of technical services of Ukraine to make sure that our TV and radio signals are not received on the Ukrainian side. It says that the work of our media is irritating for Kiev. As far as I can judge, attempts to disrupt the broadcasting of our programmes on the Ukrainian territory have not been successful,” the speaker of the parliament said.
He stressed that DPR citizens perfectly imagine the true state of affairs in Ukraine, primarily because they communicate with their friends and relatives living in this country. “That’s why our citizens do not have faith in the Ukrainian media,” Denis Pushilin said.
He noted that the DPR government has not yet decided how it would react to the adoption by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of a new document on the information fight with the People’s Republics.
“We will monitor the actions of Kiev and look at what actual steps the Ukrainian leadership will take. For now they only operate in the media field,” concluded Denis Pushilin.
The so-called “strategy of information reintegration of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions” was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Thursday, July 26. The Ukrainian government hopes that the implementation of the strategy will allow to form “the understanding and support of their belonging to the economic, political and cultural space of Ukraine” among the inhabitants of the territories of the DPR and the LPR that are not controlled by Kiev. One of the main tasks of the new strategy is “neutralization of broadcasting”, which is carried out from uncontrolled territories, as well as the organization of reverse broadcasting of Ukrainian content. The implementation of the strategy will be financed from the state budget, local budgets and international technical assistance.
