Denis Pushilin: Donbass ‘reintegration’ bill is Kiev’s attempt to find balance between demands of West and Ukrainian nationalists

The variant of the law on the ‘reintegration’ of the Donbass proposed by Ukrainian nationalists is unacceptable for residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Permanent Plenipotentiary of the DPR at the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk Denis Pushilin said on the TV programme “Time will show” on the Russian First Channel.

According to the speaker of the DPR parliament, the amendments to the law on the ‘reintegration’ of the Donbass, proposed by the nationalist “war party”, are aimed at justifying Ukrainian propaganda.

“Let’s face it: the law on the ‘reintegration’ of the Donbass is a Kiev’s attempt to find a balance between the demands of the West and the Ukrainian nationalist community. If the amendments of the “war party” are not introduced, all the dogmas on which Ukrainian propaganda has been based for the last few years will be destroyed. On the other hand, the Western partners are tired of Ukraine and the fact that it constantly fails to fulfil its obligations.

And we should not forget about the Minsk agreements, in which Russia is not registered as an “aggressor”, but as a guarantor of the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict, and which the proposed amendments do not correspond,” Denis Pushilin said.

The DPR plenipotentiary noted that as early as 2014 the consequences for the Donbass from the coming to power of Nazi politicians in Ukraine were clear.

“In fact, as early as 2014, we understood what the consequences of the nationalists coming to power would be for the Donbass. And since then we have resisted attempts to destroy the Donbass.

As for this law, it is completely unacceptable for residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. After all, according to it, any of them becomes a “collaborator”. We cannot agree to this,” Denis Pushilin stressed.
