Denis Pushilin meets presidential candidate of Mali Oumar Mariko
On April 23, Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin met with the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Mali, the chairman of the SADI (African Solidarity for Democracy and Independence) party, Oumar Mariko. This is reported by a correspondent for the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Oumar Mariko said that he had arrived in the DPR as part of his familiarization visit.
“I’m happy to be here. I have always dreamed of visiting the USSR, even when it ceased to exist. Mali shows great interest in cooperation with the countries of the former Soviet Union, so I would like to maintain contacts in the field of education and health. The Soviet people made great efforts to promote the development of health, education, and the military sphere in Mali. This is of great importance for strengthening statehood and ties between countries,” Oumar Mariko stressed.
The participants of the meeting informed each other about the internal political situation in their countries. According to Oumar Mariko, in its time in the territory of Mali, the independent state of Azawad was proclaimed, the establishment of which had nothing to do with the events in the Donbass. At that, Western media dominate in the African country, therefore reliable information about the Donetsk People’s Republic does not reach local residents.
The interlocutors noted that, with great differences, there are also significant similarities: for several years on the territories there has been a military confrontation, and this year elections for heads of state are scheduled.
For his part, Denis Pushilin noted that the residents of the Donbass are gradually returning to their native land.
“When the active hostilities ended, the Donbass inhabitants began to return to their homes,” Denis Pushilin said.
At the end of the meeting, Denis Pushilin expressed the hope that the upcoming elections in Mali would be held in a peaceful atmosphere, and wished Oumar Mariko victory.
