On June 1, an international action “Angels” dedicated to the memory of the Donbass children, who perished during the military aggression by the Ukrainian forces, took place in the Recreation Park named after A.Sh. Scherbakov. During the action, hundreds of burning Chinese lanterns, symbolizing the souls of the young victims of the Kiev regime, were launched into the night sky of Donetsk. The event was attended by Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin.

“The Angels campaign is dedicated to those children who died during the conflict in the Donbass. This year, the regions of the Russian Federation and the Lugansk People’s Republic, as well as the countries where our missions operate: France, Italy, Finland, joined the action,” the Speaker of the DPR Parliament said in an interview with journalists.

The event was timed to coincide with the International Children’s Day. According to the organizers, the activists of the public organization “Young Republic”, its goal is “to bring together the whole world to love and protect children.”

This year the action was held for the second time. In all cities and regions of the Republic, “heavenly lanterns” were launched into the sky, symbolizing the souls of the dead children. The initiative of Donetsk publics was supported by residents of five regions of Russia, as well as the Lugansk People’s Republic and several other countries. In addition, residents of the territory of the Donbass, which is under temporary control of Ukraine, joined it. In total, according to organizers’ estimates, only in Donetsk about 5,000 residents of the capital took part in the event.

We recall that last year the holding of a peaceful action was overshadowed by provocative actions of the Ukrainian military, who opened targeted fire on the lanterns. Seeing them in the area of the “Volvo Center”, the Ukrainian Armed Forces opened machine-gun fire on them. Then the provocation of the Kiev law enforcers was condemned in the People’s Council, calling the shooting the symbols of the souls of the dead children a peak of cynicism.
