On November 3, the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council read out a welcoming address of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic and made a report at the international round table “November 4 – Russian Spirit Day”. “Russia – Donbass”, we speak the same language” that took place in the city of Vladimir in the Russian Federation.

The round table was held within the framework of the “Russia-Donbass” integration committee. The event was attended by the deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Andrey Kozenko, the member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Sergey Tsekov, the Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, the Vice-Chairwoman of the Legislative Assembly of Vladimir Region Olga Khokhlova, the First Deputy Head of the Vladimir Region Administration, Viktor Kaurov, the Head of Suzdal City Administration Sergey Sakharov, the Acting Minister of Culture of the DPR Mikhail Zheltyakov, the Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Larissa Polyakova, the Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the DPR Aleksey Yarosh, and the Acting Head of the Dokuchayevsk City Administration Alexander Morgun, the Chief of public organization “Young Republic” Nikita Kiosev.

Andrey Kozenko described the economic, social, humanitarian and cultural interaction within the framework of the “Russia-Donbass” Integration Committee.

ʺToday, the Integration Committee is becoming a popular front that will bring Russia and Donbass closer together. We try to focus on the most important issues concerning the lives of the inhabitants of Donbass. We have already had meetings devoted to economic cooperation and interaction in the field of education.

However, discussion is only the formation of a strategy, defining of the main vectors for further work. A scaled-up practice is being undertaken in parallel. Within the framework of the Integration Committee, an Economic Cooperation Centre has been established to assist manufacturers of Donbass in entering the Russian market.

We decided to develop brotherly ties between the regions of Russia and Donbass. The first agreements have already been signed between the cities and regions of Russia, the LPR and DPR. This is Donetsk and Simferopol, Alushta and Krasnodon, Sudak and the Kiev district of Donetsk, the Nizhnegorskiy district of the Republic of Crimea and the Perevalsk district of the LPR,ʺ Andrey Kozenko said.

Sergey Tsekov, in his statement, described how patriotic was carried out education in the Republic of Crimea.

ʺI believe that patriotic education, which is based on unconditional love for Russia, has yielded very positive results in Crimea. When we are asked what the idea of the Russian world for our inhabitants means, we say that this is a commitment to conservative, traditional, cultural and spiritual relations in our state. We have such a rich culture and it is a base for the upbringing of our society,ʺ Sergey Tsekov said.

The Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic Igor Plotnitsky, in his turn, noted that the current policy of the Ukrainian state was aimed at a complete breakdown of relationships between Ukraine and Russia.

ʺUnfortunately, we have been ashamed of the words of patriotism for many years under the influence of the West. We are confident that those who do not nurture the true patriots of their nation are, in fact, shaping the fans of other people’s values. In Russia, this stage passed in the mid-1990s. Ukraine has stuck in this phase. Today, this country is going through a total rewriting of history with a substitution of notions. They (Ukrainian authorities) fanatically and strenuously put other people’s thoughts into the minds of the younger generation and try to break the relationship between the inhabitants of Ukraine and Russia,ʺ the Head of the DPR said.

The Vice-Chairwoman of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region Olga Khokhlova stressed that the inhabitants of the Russian Federation felt empathy for Donbass.

ʺI think we are all part of one big country. We are people who are members of the same family. Our nation has developed common values during the thousand-year history that unite people belonging to different peoples and religious denominations into a single nation. Each of us considers the values of faith, justice, great power statehood, solidarity, family, and, of course, love for the motherland to be inviolable. We understand that Russia faces a number of internal and external threats that arise from attitudinal and geopolitical changes. But only together will we be able to confront our non-friends,ʺ Olga Khokhlova.

Denis Pushilin, in his welcoming address, expressed his appreciation to the participants of the round table and noted that such events were a good opportunity to share experiences in an open dialogue. The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council made the report emphasizing the role of patriotic education in the formation of a fully functional personality.

ʺIn the context of the global information and cultural destructive policy aimed at eradication of eternal values peculiar to the Russian world, Slavic world, there was a threat of the loss of the Slavic peoples’ self-consciousness, which is the basis of the culture and originality of each of them.

Television and the Internet are awash with materials that promote unhealthy lifestyle, lack of initiative, detachment from problems of others, cynicism and misanthropy. But it is not enough space for patriotism in this long list. However, not only information space corrupts. The long years of lack of proper state policy have led to the possibility of the emergence and even prosperity of radical and neo-Nazi movements. The distortion of historical facts and overthrow of historic political leaders has led to the fact that Markelov is not a hero for a Ukrainian student, but Bandera or Shukhevych.

The conflict in Donbass made the people of the Republics, as well as the world community, to look at things from a different angle. For three years, the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic have been living with a sense of anxiety for themselves and their loved ones. The war brought a lot of pain and trauma that have changed us, making us even stronger. We remember that we are not alone, because we have each other and we are strong only in unity. We have rallied against the enemy, and we have been rallied by the desire to instil age-old values, to provide children with a stable future in which morality, justice and the true history of the Motherland reign.

It is certain that patriotism is the basis for the existence and development of all nations and statehood, but traditional patriotism extends beyond its own territory and is determined by respect and awe for the historical memory for other states, respect, unity and faith,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.

Cooperation agreements were signed between the cities of Suzdal and Dokuchayevsk, Yasinovataya and Murom, Krasnodon and Kovrov as well as between the Slovianoserbsk district of the LPR and the Vladimir Region of the Russian Federation at the conclusion of the round table.
