On July 27, in Gorlovka, a memorial was opened, dedicated to the fallen civilians of the city. The event was attended by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin and deputies Pyotr Shimanovsky, Tatyana Demchenko, and Galina Filatova.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, it is very important to remember those people who died on the way to victory.
“The war in our land has lasted for more than three years. Nobody expected that aviation and heavy artillery would be used against the peaceful population of the Donbass. Things were happening in our cities. Recently Gorlovka has become a kind of stronghold that keeps the onslaught of our opponents. Of course, for us this is a very difficult and tragic event. Unfortunately, the military actions are not over yet, every day we hear ruptures of shells, to this day people are dying. Our Republic is subjected to various provocations. I can safely say that we will win, we will dispute our interests, secure the future of our children.
This memorial will be one of many monuments that will remind the descendants of those bloody events taking place now on our land. I am sure that we will be able to achieve our goal, but we must also honour the memory of those who died on the way to victory,” Denis Pushilin said.
Pyotr Shimanovsky told the press service of the People’s Council about the events that claimed the lives of Gorlovka civilians.
“Exactly three years ago, as a result of a criminal order by the Ukrainian authorities, the city was bombarded, resulting in the death of twenty-two people. We could not even imagine that the inhabitants would be opened fire on from heavy guns. Today, local residents who came to honour the memory of all those who perished as a result of the criminal actions of the Kiev regime, gathered here,” the parliamentarian noted.
