Denis Pushilin reports readiness for possible provocations of Kiev during FIFA World Cup

Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Permanent Representative of the DPR to the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk Denis Pushilin told the RT about the readiness for provocations by the Ukrainian armed forces during the FIFA World Cup 2018. According to the plenipotentiary representative, there is a possibility of an AFU offensive on the DPR territory during the sports competition.

“Unfortunately, there is such a possibility on the part of Ukraine. Proceeding from the amount of weaponry they had brought up to the line of contact, proceeding from a number of violations not only of Minsk agreements, but also framework decisions. Ukraine has motives. But nevertheless there are also great fears in them, a kind of fear that is probably connected with their recent attempt to attack Gorlovka and how our army repelled it. The Head of the Republic undertook all the necessary steps, drills have been held. We are ready for any development of events,” Denis Pushilin said.

He expressed the hope that “Ukraine’s fear will exceed the desire to please the Western partners and commit a monstrous provocation.”

Today during the question-and-answer session, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Kiev against provocations in the Donbass during the FIFA World Cup 2018. As we reported earlier, Denis Pushilin stated that the Donetsk People’s Republic was ready to take symmetrical measures in response to the advancing of the AFU in the “grey zone”.

“We, probably, will have to return divisions to their former positions. Everything is ready for symmetrical actions,” the envoy underlined.
