Denis Pushilin’s statement about the need to brisk up the work of the political subgroup on the Road Map and Regulations

Despite the statements of the Ukrainian President, the political issues of the negotiation process were and remain a priority. Peaceful settlement of a conflict as a whole remains without progress and undecided in the work of political subgroup. Especially considering the situation on the demarcation line which is escalating every day.

Only for the last week Ukrainian army has fired 3495 times upon the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Donetsk, Makeevka, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternovo, Sahanka were under the shelling. On the night of June, 24 the Republic was bombarded exceptionally severely, when electrical substations, dwellings and a children’s clinic were under the fire of Ukrainian law enforcers.

But the worst thing is not the destruction of the infrastructure: we will be able to restore them. The most terrible thing is the death of innocent people, and nobody can bring them back to life. Two civilians were wounded during the shelling in Gorlovka and in Kominternovo two children died due to the current discharges from the power line that was damaged by the shelling.

Until we find solutions for the political affairs, the safety subject will hardly leave the agenda. And it means that we need to increase the political part speed of negotiation process.

Ukraine has already got used to pressure of  Normandy Format, as well as to ultimatums of the western partners. Recommendations of a Normandy format and advice of USA representatives should have firmer character, and their non-execution shall threaten the violator with sanctions and punishment. Activization of political subgroup’s work on a road map and the regulations, in its turn, will allow negotiation process itself to be put in tougher framework.
