Denis Pushilin: Series of measures have been designed to stabilize situation in area of Donetsk water filtration plant
The situation in the area of the Donetsk water filtration plant, which provides water to 400 thousand residents of Donbass, has stabilized as of now. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the DPR in the Contact Group’s negotiations in Minsk Denis Pushilin on June 15.
The DPR Representative Office in the Joint Centre for Cease-fire Control and Coordination stated earlier that the OSCE Mission had suspended monitoring of the area of the Donetsk water filtration plant due to continuous shelling. In this regard, the plant suspended its work last week for a few days in order to find an alternative for a safe shift change of the plant personnel.
ʺThe situation (around the Donetsk water filtration plant – Ed.) has stabilized so far. There is a series of arrangements – practical measures, which I would not like to announce yet. There are certain tasks given by the Head of the Republic. If things continue like this, there will be no need to worry about the lack of water,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
He underlined that stabilization measures were recommended to the OSCE SMM.
The Donetsk water filtration plant is located 12 kilometres from Donetsk on neutral ground near the line of contact. It provides water to 400 thousand residents of Donetsk, Avdeyevka, Yasinovataya and a number of other settlements on both sides of the line of contact. The plant was shelled repeatedly during the conflict.
