Denis Pushilin speaks at rally in honour of DPR’s proclamation anniversary

On April 7, in Donetsk, a solemn rally dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the proclamation of the Donetsk People’s Republic took place on Lenina Square. The event was attended by Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin, as well as deputies of the People’s Council.

The rally was preceded by a thousands-strong festive procession, in which about ten thousand people took part. A column of demonstrators went to the main square of the capital, starting the movement at the Donetsk Republican Scientific Library named after N.K. Krupskaya. People’s Council deputies, activists of the public movement “Donetsk Republic” and the public organization “Young Republic” are among the participants of the procession.

Addressing the participants of the event, Denis Pushilin stressed that the proclamation of the Donetsk People’s Republic was a difficult, but the only true choice.

“It has been a long four years since the Donbass, not having reconciled itself with the coup d’etat that took place in Kiev, decided to take responsibility for ourselves. Did we think then that this was only the beginning, that a full-fledged war would be unleashed against us, that we would be killed from all the weapons Ukraine had? Did we think that this process will be extended for such a long time?..

But could we have acted differently? Could we bow our heads and reconcile ourselves to the fact that the Nazis will walk around our streets, that the memory of our ancestors will be grossly trampled? Reconcile that our children will be ashamed of us? Of course not! We took the first desperate step, and this was only the first step.

During these four years, a lot of events have happened – good and bad, happy and not really. But the Donetsk People’s Republic exists. We, the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic, exist, and we have a future, a goal, we have someone to take care of – our children, our descendants. The price of our actions is very high. We are winning, and we will win!” Denis Pushilin claimed.
