Denis Pushilin takes part in a videoconference dedicated to Immortal Regiment action
On May 5, with the assistance of the Russian Center, a videoconference entitled “The Importance of the National Action “Immortal Regiment” in the Patriotic Education of Youth” was held in the Art-Donbass art museum.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the head of the Russian Center, Denis Pushilin, the Deputy Chairman of the People’s Council, Olga Makeyeva, the head of the NGO “Young Republic”, Nikita Kiosev, veterans of the Great Patriotic War from the DPR and the Russian Federation.
In his address, Denis Pushilin noted the high price, which was paid by our ancestors to win in the Great Patriotic War.
“Dear friends, dear veterans! I am sincerely glad to welcome you at this event. Every day we stray further away from May 9, 1945, which is the day of pride and glory for our country and our people, who defeated fascism. I say “our” because I myself was born in a big and strong country – the Soviet Union.
Our people paid an immensely high price to win. Millions of dead, millions of maimed destinies… The war brought grief to every family, wherever they lived – in St. Petersburg, Donetsk, Odessa, Tomsk, Smolensk, Krasnodar or other cities. No matter how much time will pass, we will never forget the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who defended freedom and peace with their own blood.
Partially, it is the recognition of the value of history, without distortions and alterations, the understanding of the true heroes, and not those that the Kiev regime tried to present us, helped us to choose the path that we have followed for four years. We are the heirs of the victorious warriors, we feel responsibility for the peace that you gave us,” the Chairman of the People’s Council said.
Denis Pushilin also stressed the special importance of patriotic education of youth.
“Today, on the eve of the Great Victory Day, we have an opportunity to discuss the importance of preserving the memory of this war and its true heroes, as well as the need to educate civic consciousness and patriotism in the younger generation. Considering the long-term indifferent attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards the youth, which led to the fall of patriotism in the youth community and society as a whole, today we must treat the issue of patriotic education as the implementation of state policy, I would even say – the issue of national security,” the speaker noted.
He added that holding the Immortal Regiment action is of special importance for the patriotic education of the youth.
“The nationwide action “Immortal Regiment,” in my opinion, is not only a tribute to the memory of the winners. This is an opportunity for a 15-year-old to feel pride in the deeds of their great-grandfather, to become a part of this Great Victory, part of the heroic past of our country. And for the state it is also the education of patriots of our great Motherland, citizens of a legal democratic state, who have a sense of national pride, civic virtue, love for the Motherland, their people,” Denis Pushilin said.
In his address to the veterans, the Chairman of the People’s Council congratulated them on the upcoming holiday: “Dear veterans! Let me jump at this opportunity to congratulate you with all my heart on the upcoming holiday of the Great Victory! I want to wish you strength, confidence, peaceful skies and, of course, well-being.”
In turn, veteran of the Great Patriotic War Anna Akhtyamova, who fought as part of the 230th Donetsk-Berlin Infantry Division of the Order of Suvorov, joined the congratulations and wished those present peaceful skies.
“I want to congratulate you on behalf of all the veterans living in the Voroshilovsky district of the city of Donetsk on the upcoming 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. I wish everyone good health, happiness, good luck and the most important thing – peaceful skies above your head. I also want to wish our young and beautiful Donetsk People’s Republic to develop,” Anna Akhtyamova said.
A veteran of the Great Patriotic War from the Krasnodar Territory expressed hope for continued cooperation in the field of patriotic education.
“Friendship always wins. We learn from each other. Patriotic education develops in broad strides. Almost all organized youth participate in this movement. It is very important that we share with the younger generation an understanding of patriotism, military patriotism, which in those difficult years allowed us to win over the fascist regime.
I really hope that our communication will continue in the future, will improve and give its results,” the veteran summed up the videoconference.
