Denis Pushilin takes part in solemn event on occasion of Physical Culture and Sports Worker Day of DPR

On August 11, 2016, in the Donetsk Palace of Culture named after Kuibyshev V. a solemn event dedicated to the Physical Culture and Sports Worker Day in the DPR took place. The event was attended by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the DPR Mikhail Mishin and the Chairman of the People’s Council of the DPR Denis Pushilin.

At the beginning of the event the Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism read out the Donetsk People’s Republic’s Head Alexander Zakharchenko’s text of congratulations.

“Dear workers of physical culture, athletes, professionals and amateurs! I warmly congratulate you on your professional holiday.

The development of sport in the country is the most important component in the development of organic and self-sufficient promising society. Today, the Republican sport is in quite difficult conditions. Many of the key sports facilities were destroyed by AFU’s shelling. But, despite all the difficulties, sport lives and develops in the DPR. During the fighting, none of the existing sports schools was closed. School of Olympic reserve named after Sergey Bubka continues working. The state does not cease to support the athletes, especially the professionals. In the Donetsk People’s Republic sports federations are being created. Our athletes are actively involved in competitions of republican level and international competitions in Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia…

I wish all athletes, workers of physical culture and sports robust health, good fitness level, success and bright sport victories.

On this festive day I also want to congratulate the veterans of the sport – people who glorified Donbass worldwide with their sports victories. I wish you happiness, success and well-being. Congratulations!” the Head of the Republic’s text of congratulations says.

Congratulating the DPR’s physical culture workers on their professional holiday, Mikhail Mishin emphasized the heroism of those who stayed in the country and had not left it in connection with the beginning of active hostilities.

“I want to say thank you for what you have done. In your place, not everyone would be able to do so. Everyone had a choice, had offers to leave with the prospect of good earnings. But you chose the long and difficult way. This path is proper and fair. Once again I want to thank you for this act, congratulate on your professional holiday and wish health and happiness to you and your families, because they supported you on the path of life. Congratulations!” the Minister said.

In his congratulatory speech, Denis Pushilin said that healthy lifestyle receives increased attention in the Donetsk People’s Republic. At the same time, he recalled that during Ukraine, society had been implanted with completely opposite values.

“I want to emphasize that in such a short time, I had never heard so often that healthy lifestyle, promotion of healthy lifestyles is very trendy for people across the Republic. During the entire existence of Ukraine, all that we have been promoted were cigarettes, beer, alcohol and so on … This is what was spread among youth, and physical culture and sports used to remain in the background.

We have no right to allow such mistakes in the Donetsk People’s Republic. And here we will have a lot of work: we need to work with our young people, our children and with society in general. Of course, we won’t succeed without a personal example, because people pay attention to the specific actions first, and then to words.

We have certain goals and clear objectives: we need a healthy society, because it is the key to a strong state. So I wish you stamina, courage, peaceful sky above the head and, of course, pride of our young Donetsk People’s Republic,” Denis Pushilin wished.

Representatives of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the DPR, city and regional administrations employees of Sports and Tourism departments, presidents of football clubs, coaches and athletes of the Donetsk People’s Republic were awarded with honorary diplomas of the People’s Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
