The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the Permanent Representative of the DPR at the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk, Denis Pushilin, commented on the state building of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the TV programme “60 Minutes” on the Rossiya 1 channel.
“The Minsk agreements have not been implemented for more than three years, and four million people from the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics could not have lived in some kind of waiting. People have to feed their families, send their children to schools, and conduct activities. On the one hand, we are doing everything possible for a political settlement, we are making maximum compromises, and on the other hand, we are settling the lives of our citizens. In “manual” management such a number of people wouldn’t be able to live,” said the Speaker of the DPR Parliament.
Also, Denis Pushilin noted that the law on the special status of the Donbass expires on October 18.
“After the expiry of the law on the Donbass special status, we see no political prospects. Representatives of the Ukrainian party to the Minsk process do not express any position on this issue – neither for nor against. They just go aside and do not discuss anything. The “Steinmeier’s formula” supported by the “Normandy Four” has not been implemented in reality, nothing has been done in the political subgroup,” the envoy underlined.
According to him, there are no constructive proposals in the dialogue with Ukraine.
“Even if there are some new introductions after meetings in the “Normandy format”, unfortunately, there are no constructive proposals. More issues are resolved on the sidelines,” Denis Pushilin said.
