Denis Pushilin: There is great cohesion in society, although Ukraine wanted to achieve opposite
Ukraine has completely fallen out of touch with Donbass and Russian world, and a society is as united as never before after the death of the Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko. This was stated by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the DPR in the Contact Group’s negotiations in Minsk Denis Pushilin in an interview to “Izvestia”.
The Speaker of the Parliament expressed an opinion on Ukraine’s involvement in the terrorist act during the conversation, which took place in the lead up to the meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk.
ʺThe incident with our leader Alexander Zakharchenko is very painfully perceived in the Republic. It is an irreparable loss for all regular people in Donbass. It is a tragedy. It is very difficult for us to understand how we can communicate with people, who are involved in crimes, which Ukraine has committed all these years and continues to commit. Now, it has escalated into the murder of Alexander Zakharchenko resulting from the terrorist attack, which was prepared by Ukrainian security services. The data of our law enforcement agencies, which appear during the course of instigation, is more and more convincing,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
He also noted that the people of Donbass united after the tragedy, as well as they were even more convinced in the fact that they made a right choice in 2014.
ʺThere is no dissonance in a society. Vice versa. There is great cohesion in the society after this tragedy. We have no doubts that Ukraine wanted to achieve the opposite.
Ukraine has completely fallen out of touch with Donbass, Russian space and world. It simply does not understand the inhabitants of Donbass. Donbass is united more than ever before. And the Head of the Republic, having left and died, has reinforced our belief that we, the Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic, are on the right course. We made a right choice,ʺ Denis Pushilin emphasized.
Responding to a question on what retaliation measures to the assassination of the Head of the Republic will be taken in the DPR, the Plenipotentiary Representative said that there will be a reaction.
ʺIt is absolutely certain that the Donetsk People’s Republic considers itself entitled to avenge our leader. it is difficult to say now in what form and what methods there will be. It is too soon. We just buried Alexander Zakharchenko,ʺ Denis Pushilin said.
The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic tragically died last Friday, on August 31, as a result of the terrorist attack in the centre of Donetsk. A mourning ceremony for the leader of the state took place in the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Solovyanenko on September 2. More than 200 thousand citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic came to honour the memory of the deceased. Four delegations arrived in the Republic on the occasion of the funeral. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the murder cowardly and expressed hope that the organizers and executors of this crime would be punished.
