Denis Pushilin: Ukrainian authorities rely on radical nationalist groups
Ukraine has several reasons for attacking the Republic, the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the Permanent Representative of the DPR to the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk, Denis Pushilin, stated in the programme “Time will show” on the Russian First Channel.
“The situation that has developed at the moment on the contact line indicates that conditions are being created for a possible attack and escalation. The number of provocations has increased. The adoption of the law on ‘reintegration’ probably instilled some confidence in our opponents.
There are several reasons for the attack by Ukraine, it is a whole set. The first is attracting the attention of the world community, which Ukraine lacks and that was shown in Munich, where Poroshenko performed in a half-empty hall.
The next reason is a good time to commit provocations. Presidential elections in Russia, World Cup.
Another reason is related to the upcoming elections in Ukraine next year. We understand that the forces that will be supported by a radically inclined electorate will be able to win in elections,” the DPR envoy said.
He also stressed that the strength of nationalist groups and adherents of Nazi ideology should not underestimated.
“We already once made a mistake in the late 90’s, when Bandera’s name became resound. The people connected with his actions arouse derision among us. With the arrival of Viktor Yushchenko in the presidency, all this evoked dislike among us, but again we did not take seriously the situation with Bandera’s glorification. After 2014, followers of the “Bandera ideology” freely march through the cities of Ukraine. They largely dictate their terms, while in the Ukrainian media you will not be able to voice your position against it,” added Denis Pushilin.
According to the Speaker of the Parliament, the law on ‘reintegration’ legalizes the criminal activities of Poroshenko, Turchinov and other Ukrainian high-ranking officials.
“Poroshenko and Turchinov legalized their criminal acts in the Donbass by the law on ‘reintegration’. They will also be able to develop the situation in any direction convenient for them. And in order to stay in power, they consider it correct to rely on radical groups,” Denis Pushilin said.
