Denis Pushilin: We see Donbass withdrawing farther and farther away from Ukraine
Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Permanent Representative of the DPR to the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk Denis Pushilin commented on the reaction of the Ukrainian media to the words of the LPR Foreign Minister Vladislav Deynego about the possible return of the Donbass to Ukraine.
Denis Pushilin stressed that Vladislav Deynego explained in his interview the legal component of this scenario, considering this possibility exclusively in theory, without application in practice.
“At the moment I cannot imagine any of the residents of the DPR and the LPR, or the leadership of the Republics, who in Ukraine is threatened with at least life-long criminal punishment, asking to come back.
Now we see quite the opposite situation, when the Donbass withdrawing farther and farther away from Ukraine. And the reason for this is at least the fact that Ukraine has not fulfilled a single paragraph of the Minsk agreements as of today. Moreover, the military situation has escalated, a vivid example of this is the recent shelling of the Kievsky district in the city of Donetsk. Again, there were destructions and wounded. Therefore, I do not see any prerequisites for speaking in such a context (about the possible return of the Donbass to Ukraine). Vladislav Deynego talked about how this could be, but this has nothing to do with the practical component,” Denis Pushilin said.
