Deputies Marina Zheynova and Alexey Zhigulin comment on preliminary results of investigation into assassination of Alexander Zakharchenko
On September 15, the Acting Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin stated that information collected during the investigation of the assassination of Alexander Zakharchenko, as well as the testimony of a detained SSU agent indicated the involvement of Ukraine and Western special services in this crime.
ʺThe investigation continues, but it has already been clarified that the SSU’s counterintelligence organized and carried out the terrorist act. It is a tragic event for us. We have to find out the truth with the help of our law-enforcement agencies and find not only perpetrators, but also to identify the organizers of this assassination,ʺ Marina Zheynova underlined in an interview with journalists.
ʺThe proofs of the involvement of the SSU employees in the organization of the assassination of Alexander Zakharchenko have been found thanks to the joint work of the representatives of our special services with colleagues from the Russian Federation. Moreover, according to the information presented at the Council of Ministers’ meeting by the Acting Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, technical means used in the terrorist act were not of Ukrainian origin. New investigation findings will be announced in due course,ʺ Alexey Zhigulin said.
