Deputy Valery Skorokhodov comments on proposal of Head of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to prosecute citizens of DPR for “collaborationism”

The proposal of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov to prosecute the citizens of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics for “collaborationism” contradicts the Minsk agreements and aims to incite hatred against the inhabitants of Donbass. This was reported by the DPR People’s Council deputy Valery Skorokhodov to RIA Novosti.

Arsen Avakov proposed to prosecute the leadership of the DPR and LPR, as well as citizens, who fought against the Ukrainian army, for “collaborationism”. A number of deputies introduced a bill early, which would introduce liability for “collaborationism”. The document calls, in particular, persons, who allegedly cooperate with the Russian Federation, as well as those who “carry on an economic and trade, information and psychological war” against Ukraine, “collaborators”.

ʺThe provocative statement of Avakov is aimed at the only one thing – to foster hatred against the citizens of Donbass. His public statement cynically contradicts the Minsk agreements, which refer to the adoption of legislation that decriminalizes, grants immunity from prosecution and prevents discrimination against people related to the conflict, in other words, it is about exactly the opposite,ʺ Skorokhodov said.

He underlined that no inhabitant of the DPR is a collaborator, because they work and act in the sole interest of Donbass and its population.

ʺSuch threats posed by the officials of Ukraine once again show, who is an aggressor in this confrontation,ʺ Valery Skorokhodov said.
