Donetsk International Investment Forum kicks off in Republic
On October 29, a plenary session of the Donetsk International Investment Forum was held in the Republic’s capital, aimed at improving the investment environment and developing external economic and business ties. DPR Head Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka, representatives of relevant ministries and departments, as well as representatives of 17 countries, including Russia, the USA, Syria, France, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, and Abkhazia attended the event.
During his speech, the Head of the Republic expressed hope that the investment forum would demonstrate the potential of the DPR and would contribute to the establishment of meaningful cooperation.
“We really appreciate that you are with us today, that you have responded to the invitation to partake in such an important event for Donbass. A meeting of this level is a unique opportunity to form a meaningful agenda for expanding the geography of cooperation, demonstrate the investment opportunities of the Republic, and show our industrial potential and the level of tasks that we set ourselves.
The Donetsk People’s Republic is arguably an industrial-economic and scientific-educational centre, on the territory of which there are the largest enterprises of mechanical engineering, coal, metallurgy, food and consumer goods industry, highly qualified medical centres and educational institutions. And even now, despite the well-known difficulties of the state of our country, the Donetsk People’s Republic retains significant potential in these sectors and sets itself the task of further development and accruement. Today you are going to see it for yourself,” Denis Pushilin said.
Within the framework of the forum, the work of the following thematic sections was organized: “The Economic Potential of Donbass”, “Establishment of a Favourable Investment Environment: Problems and Prospects”, “Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector: Investments and Cooperation”, “Scientific and Educational Potential of Donbass”, “Donbass and Russian Regions” and “Environmental Development as a Contribution to the Future Generation.”
