On May 12, within the framework of the celebration of the fourth anniversary of the Lugansk People’s Republic’s formation, at the Lugansk Government House, Acting Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic Leonid Pasechnik met with representatives of the DPR and the Russian Federation delegations who came to participate in the festive events.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the LPR People’s Council Denis Miroshnichenko, Chairman of the LPR Council of Ministers Sergei Kozlov, and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the LPR Vladislav Deynego.
The Donetsk People’s Republic was represented by Chairman of the People’s Council Denis Pushilin, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Council Olga Makeyeva, and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPR Natalia Nikonorova. The Republic and its leaders were congratulated by deputies of the State Duma of Russia Kazbek Taysayev, Viktor Vodolatsky, as well as the president of the Lugansk Association of Fellow-Countrymen Sergei Panteleyev. This is reported by the Lugansk information center.
“We are grateful that you came to congratulate us, because we are two fraternal Republics,” Leonid Pasechnik addressed the guests from the DPR.
“It is a very pleasant surprise, our goals and objectives, as I understand, are the same. The first is in the political sphere. We must prove, first of all, to our opponents from the side – the Kiev authorities – that we are building a more correct state, our tasks and priorities are more correct,” the Acting LPR Head stressed in a conversation with representatives of the DPR authorities.
“Secondly, we must educate our generation in the spirit of patriotism and devotion to our Motherland. The third point, we must become better in all areas of economic development. I believe in terms this we are thinking in one direction,” he added.
Denis Pushilin on behalf of the DPR people congratulated the LPR people on the Republic Day and the presentation of the development programme “Our Choice”.
“We appeared together, we began to defend our interests and oppose our opponents, and now, I think, this stage may not be very new, but very interesting and promising,” he said.
“I know that the citizens of the LPR participated in drawing up this programme (the development of the LPR – ed.), and certain accents are seen that were placed with the message that this programme includes exactly what citizens need,” stressed the Speaker of the DPR Parliament.
He noted that a similar programme was also developed in the DPR, which is in many respects similar to the programme presented today in Lugansk.
“They (programmes – ed.) very strongly overlap. There are also many differences. In general, they include all the accents, all the main directions, all the main points that now exist in the Republics, this must be examined soberly, we now need to cope with them,” Denis Pushilin said.
It should be noted that the official delegation of the Donetsk People’s Republic arrived in Lugansk to participate in solemn events dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the formation of the Lugansk People’s Republic. The delegation is headed by the Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko. Chairman of the People’s Council Denis Pushilin, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Council Olga Makeyeva, and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova are part of the delegation.
Four years ago, on May 11, 2014, a referendum on self-determination of the region was held in the cities and districts of the former Lugansk region. 96.2 percent of the inhabitants took part in the popular vote, 81 percent of the voters voted for the sovereignty. Later on, the LPR leadership established May 12 a state holiday – the Day of the Lugansk People’s Republic.
We add that the anniversary of the referendum in the Donetsk People’s Republic was celebrated yesterday, on May 11. On this day in Donetsk, a series of events timed to the fourth anniversary of the referendum on the independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic took place. The key event of the festive programme was the procession of delegations of cities and districts of the Republic, dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the formation of the DPR, which was headed by a column of deputies of the DPR People’s Council. An official delegation from the Lugansk People’s Republic, headed by Chairman of the LPR Council of Ministers Sergei Kozlov, took part in the ceremonial events.
