On May 12, the representatives of the DPR delegation honoured memory of the citizens of the Lugansk People’s Republic, who died from the AFU attacks and laid floral tributes to a memorial called “We will not forget, we will not forgive!”, which was erected in Lugansk. This was reported by the correspondent of the official website of the DPR on the spot.
ʺWe are at a memorial, a mass grave of the inhabitants of the Republic. This is not a burial place of the Great Patriotic War, but recent history. These are the victims of Ukrainian aggression and we should always remember what price we paid to achieve this freedom,ʺ the Deputy Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Olga Makeyeva.
According to the Vice-Speaker, more than 800 peaceful citizens and defenders of the LPR who died in 2014 were buried at the memorial in trenches. This decision was made due to the fact that city cemeteries were subjected to intensive artillery shelling by the AFU. And it is not certain that this figure is final, the search of remains still continues.
ʺDonetsk and Lugansk have always been united. And today, having such serious and gruesome history, we understand that only united we stand. The people of Lugansk are our brothers, that is why we are together both at festive and commemorative events. And we should always remember what price we paid in order to live outside fascist Ukraine,ʺ Olga Makeyeva summed up.
The Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin, the Acting DPR Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova, the Acting LPR Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladislav Deynego honour memory of those who died as well.
